Teacher Training & Development
Teaching is an increasingly popular choice of career and CRC offers qualifications both for teachers at the start of their career in post-16 education and for more experienced professionals wishing to improve or upgrade through professional development. We also offer courses for those who have more of a supporting role in the classroom. All our courses are taught by professional lecturers, who have extensive experience of teaching in the sector. Our higher level courses are awarded by Ascentis.
Our teaching qualifications are suitable for those wanting to teach in Post 16 Further Education and 6th Form Colleges. They do not qualify you to teach in primary or secondary schools.
This qualification, previously PTLLS, is an ideal start for those who think they may be interested in teaching but are not sure as you do not need any experience of teaching or any teaching hours to undertake the course. Equally, this 12-week course will be of interest to those who are now in teaching. It is an introductory qualification and gives some initial training and guidance on session and course planning, assessment for learning, teaching/training techniques and classroom management. It would be of interest to those who may like to teach, tutor, train, mentor or assess. Our next start dates are from 7 & 9 January 2019 with further start dates in April 2019. Classes are on Mondays, from 1pm to 4pm, and Wednesdays, from 5.30pm to 8.30pm.
This two-year part-time Higher Education qualification, previously known as DTLLS, is designed to meet the requirements of those who wish to qualify in a full teacher role. It requires candidates to be in a practical teacher role when they join the course and is suitable for teachers in the post-compulsory learning sector, which includes FE colleges, adult and community learning environments, charity and voluntary sector organisations as well as work-based learning providers. The qualification provides a practical approach to the application of knowledge necessary to become a successful teacher. Our next start date is September 2019 – please call us on 01223 226315 for more details
