This study programme will provide an introduction into Art and Photography. The skills and knowledge gained on this study programme will support your progress to employment for example, as a photographer or in the Art industry.
During the course you will study units including: introduction to visual language, research skills, critical and contextual awareness, materials, process and technical skills, integrated approach to 2D and 3D problem solving, integrated approach to time based problem and developing an art and design project. You will complete relevant work experience and, if necessary, you will also study Maths and English.
Progression & Career Opportunities
After successful completion of this study programme you can progress onto the Level 3 where you will choose either the ART or PHOTOGRAPHY route.
2 GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or above, or you need to show a keen interest in either art or photography.
In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.

Your work will be continually assessed throughout the year with written assignments, presentations and practical work.

Once we have received your application, you will be invited to attend a Welcome Event, which gives you and your parents/carers the opportunity to have a look around the College, talk to the tutors and ask any questions you may have.
