Recruitment FAQ’s

You will be required to register before you can apply. Once registered, find a suitable vacancy and selected the ‘Apply online’ button, you will be taken to the Summary page. Complete the application form by working through each of the pages as listed on the Summary page. The icons will indicate whether a page is complete or not, which helps track your progress. You are required to complete a supporting statement along with your application form. This should include your reasons for applying and other information relevant to the person specification, including your knowledge, skills and experience. If you do not submit a supporting statement, along with your application form, it will not be considered for shortlisting. Please read the job description and person specification carefully before completing the application form and complete each section fully.

Your CV will not be accepted instead of an application form. The application form assists us in the shortlisting process and ensures that all applicants have a similar opportunity to present their skills, experience and qualifications to us. If you do not use our application form, your application will not be considered.

You should include any information you think is necessary to show us that you meet the requirements of the person specification and that you are able, or have the potential, to carry out the duties described in the job description. Where we have used the term ‘or equivalent’ on the person specification please include details of qualifications/training and/or knowledge/experience which you believe meet our stated requirements. Our preferred way of contacting you is by email, so please ensure that you provide a current email address on the application form. To assist us, please also include on your application form contact telephone numbers (preferably a mobile and a landline) which we may use to contact you during the day/early evening.

Following the closing date for applications, the line manager responsible for the vacancy reviews the applications and shortlists with advice from Human Resources.

Following the completion of the shortlisting stage, we will inform all applicants by email to advise them whether or not they have been selected for the next stage.

Typically, we will invite you by email to attend one or more interviews with appropriate members of staff. We may also ask you to undertake practical assessment exercises relevant to the vacancy for which you have applied. Your email inviting you to interview will set out what you will be asked to do and the names of the people you will see.

If you require assistance at interview, please do not hesitate to contact the HR team who will be happy to facilitate any reasonable adjustments required. CRC are a Disability Confident Employer and we guarantee applicants with a disability an interview for any role for which they have applied as long as they meet the essential criteria for the role.

Depending on the role you have applied for, interviews are usually held at either the Kings Hedges Road campus in Cambridge or California Road Campus in Huntingdon. The location will be clearly stated in the email inviting you to interview.

Yes, free visitors parking is available at both the Cambridge and Huntingdon campuses.

You should bring with you to the interview original ID showing evidence of your right to work in the UK. This would ideally be a passport, however if you don’t have your passport, then please bring your birth certificate along with a document confirming your National Insurance number.

We are committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. Our jobs are offered subject to pre-employment checks for the right to live and work in the UK and pre-employment checks on the nationally-held barred lists identifying people who are barred from working with children and vulnerable adults. All jobs are offered subject to these pre-employment checks. You will also be asked to apply for a DBS disclosure at enhanced level before you start working with us. When you are offered a job, we will email you to explain what you need to do meet these requirements.
